Don Wagoner, 65, of Burlington died at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 1:05 p.m.
A native of Rockingham County, he was the husband of Deborah Wagoner, who survives and the son of the late George Jefferson Wagoner and Juanita Wagoner, who survives. He was an industrial engineer by trade, but in his private life he was a loving husband, devoted father, magnificent Papa-Da and an amazing cat whisperer. He was also an inspired musician, avid bowler and skilled craftsman. He spent his free time dancing with his best friend, Lucy.
In addition to his wife of the home and mother of Madison, survivors include two children, Derek Wagoner and wife Julie of Salisbury and Daren Wagoner and wife Jenny of Burlington; two grandchildren, Alexis Wagoner and Gage Wagoner; brother, J. B. Wagoner and wife Jewel of Madison; mother-in-law, Lois Smith of Madison; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. by Rev. Don Pegg with the family receiving friends from 2:45 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, they will be at residence of the son, Daren Wagoner.
