Mrs Mary Ida Stephens

June 14, 1945 ~ July 2, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Mary Ida Sutton Stephens arrived in Glory on July 2nd 2017. She was the daughter of Lenneous Lee Sutton and Ruby Montina Smith, both deceased, and the spouse of the late Ronald Ray Stephens.

She was a mother, art teacher, Sunday School teacher, volunteer, artist, and held a degree in Interior Design.

She owned and operated a successful interior design business, served as alderman for the Village of Alamance, served on the Alamance County Historical Preservation board, and helped form the Beverly Hills Historical Society. She also was voted Young Woman of the Year in 1979.

She is survived by her children Ronald (Kim) Ingle and wife Angela of Haw River, Robin Ingle Buffington and husband Len of Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Colan Ingle and wife Debra of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Joshua Ingle of San Rosa Beach, FL, Stephen Ingle and wife Katie of Burlington, Jacob Ingle of Pottersville, NY, Caleb Ingle, Haley Ingle, Hannah Ingle, all of Haw River, and Chase Buffington of Jacksonville Beach, FL; one step grandchild, Tyler Buffington of Jacksonville Beach, FL; and one great grandchild, Oliver Ingle of Burlington. She is also survived by her two sisters, Phyllis Fogleman and husband Max and Sue Gurkin, both of Burlington; and two brothers, Mike Sutton and wife Donna of Lutz, Florida and Riley Sutton and wife Judy of Concord, NC. She had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved her as well and she is also survived by three special four legged friends, Kie Stephens, Duke Ingle and Rex Buffington.

Viewing is from 3-5pm Tuesday, July 4, at Rich and Thompson of Burlington. Funeral will be held at Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member, at 11 am on Wednesday, July 5th. Reverend Don Pegg will conduct the service with interment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
