Gerald "Jerry" Sylvester Reedy

Mr. Gerald “Jerry” Sylvester Reedy, 81, of Durham, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at Ashton Place in McLeansville.

He was husband of the late Judith “Judy” Reedy and son of the late Robert Sylvester Reedy and Helen Rider Reedy. A native of Moultrie Co., IL, Mr. Reedy held an MBA from Wake Forest University and retired as Director of Internal Auditing for Burroughs-Wellcome. He had a passion for soccer and coached his children and grandchildren. He also loved skiing, which was how he met his wife. Mr. Reedy played college football and baseball at Eureka College, was an avid sailor, as well as a genealogy enthusiast.

Surviving are a daughter; Liann “Leigh” Golden and husband James of Burlington and a son, Dwayne Robert Reedy and wife Melissa of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Christopher Golden, Chase Golden, Logan Reedy, Katie Reedy, and Anderson Reedy; and a brother, James “Jim” Reedy and husband David Lazear.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington, with Pastor Ken Hester officiating. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 – 1:45 PM, prior to the service.
