Clara G. “Dot” Franklin

Graham – Mrs. Clara G. “Dot” Franklin, 92, of Graham died at her residence on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 5:00 a.m.

A native of Chatham County, she was the wife of the late Robert Lee Franklin, Sr. and the daughter of Charlie Sanders Gunter and Lillian Flonnie Womble Gunter, both deceased. Dot was a homemaker and a former school food service employee at Alexander Wilson Elementary School. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church where she was very active in many capacities of the church.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty F. Wood and husband Twig of Siler City; three sons, Robert L. Franklin, Jr. and wife Patti of Arden, W. Boyd Franklin and wife Cindy of Hillsborough and Buddy A. Franklin and wife Beth of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Will Franklin, Burton Wood and wife Ashley, Nicole Franklin Rankin and husband Tyler, Dr. Robert Franklin, III, Della Franklin and Stephen Wood and fiancée Brianna; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Caroline Rankin; one sister, Bernice Badders of Clayton; two brothers, Charlie Sanders Gunter, Jr. and wife Faye of Siler City and Laddie Gunter of Goldston; and sister-in-law, Mary Gunter of Goldston.

Mrs. Franklin was preceded in death by two sisters, Nadene Crabtree and Shirley Poe and two brothers, Gerald Gunter and Rayford Gunter.

The funeral service will be conducted at Salem United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. by Rev. Cindy Lister and Rev. Cathy Hoyle with the family receiving friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
