Ruthie Mae Barrett

Mrs. Ruthie Mae Barrett, 96, of Burlington died at the Hospice Home on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 8:15 p.m.

A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Joseph C. “Joe” Barrett and the daughter of Earnest Murray and Luvenia Roxie Norris Murray, both deceased. Mrs. Barrett retired from Copland Fabrics. She loved growing flowers and tending to her animals. She was a member for many years at Deep Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School in her early years.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet Hughes and husband Richard of Graham; four grandchildren, Taylor Hughes and wife Karen of Burlington, Michael Barrett and wife Courtney of California and Elizabeth Munter and husband Dan of Raleigh, and Foster Hughes and wife Carla of Conway, SC; four great-grandchildren, Bryce Barrett, Brooklyn Barrett, Ethan Munter and Craigan Hughes; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by a son, Joseph D. “J.D.” Barrett and brother, Frank Murray.

A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. by Rev. James Moon, Mr. Paul Moon and Dr. Dace Lewis with the family receiving friends from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, for the Hospice Home, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
