Mary Mitchell

Mrs. Mary Ellen Mitchell, 80, of Mebane died at the Hospice Home on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 4:30 p.m.

A native of Orange County, she was the wife of the late Billy Eugene Mitchell, Sr. and the daughter of Cyrus Gregory Lewis and Bertha Murray Lewis Wyatt, both deceased. She was a lifetime member of Mebane United Methodist Church and a member of the Alamance Amateur Radio Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Cales of Mebane; son, Jim Mitchell and wife Karen of Mebane; daughter-in-law, Vicki Mitchell of Oxford; three grandchildren, Greg Cales, William Mitchell and Tony Mitchell; one great-granddaughter, Elaina Cales; and sister, Kathleen Hinshaw of Wilmington. She was preceded in death by a son, Bill Mitchell, Jr. and sister, Jean Moon.

The funeral service will be conducted at Mebane United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Johnnie L. Wright, II with the family receiving friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church. Burial will follow in Mebane Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mebane United Methodist Church, 200 South Fourth Street, Mebane, NC 27302 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
