Mr. Homer Banks Murray, 89, of Burlington, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 at Peak Resources of Graham.
A native of Burlington, NC, he was the husband of Betty Robertson Murray, who survives, and son of the late Karay Thanel Murray and Ealer Staley Murray. Mr. Murray was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He retired with 43 ½ years of service with Western Electric, AT&T and Lucent Techonologies. He was also a volunteer with the Faucette Fire Department for 35 years having served as treasurer. Homer was a member of Carolina Christian Church where he served as a Deacon, teacher and Sunday school superintendent.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a daughter, Sheila Shotwell and husband Tony of Haw River; son, Rodney Murray and wife Sally of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Brent Shotwell, Emily Shotwell, Allyson Murray and Jennifer Murray; three sisters, Agnes Smith, Nadell Murray and Betty Ruth Hurlocker, all of Burlington. He was preceded in death by a brother, K. T. Murray and sister, Janie Murray.
The funeral service will be conducted at Carolina Christian Church on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Mark Mitchell with the family receiving friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
