Betty W. Turner

Betty W. Turner, 69, of Mebane, died on January 16th, 2018 at the Hospice Home of Burlington.

A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Gayland Turner and Dorothy Whitfield Turner, both deceased. Known to her family and friends as “Miss Betty”, she retired from Pickett Hosiery after 32 years of service and was a member of Hawfields Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Southern Alamance High School and the Vocational Trades of Alamance. Miss Betty loved to read, sing, play bingo, and spend time with her family and friends at Together House.

Survivors include three sisters, Louise Harp (Melvin) of Burlington, Thearessa Kenyon (John) of Mebane, and Jane Fraser (John) of Burlington; two brothers, Gayland Turner, Jr. of Mebane and Barry Turner (Debra) of Mebane; several nieces and nephews whom she thought of as her own children; and her special friends, Sandra, Dorothy, Shelethia, Shelia, and Leslie.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Hawfields Presbyterian Church with Rev. J. David Ealy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Rolling House, Alvarado’s Family Care, Together House, ICU at Moses Cone Hospital, and the Hospice Home for the special care given to Miss Betty.
