Betty Anderson Alexander, 91, of Twin Lakes Community, Burlington, NC, died Thursday, June 15, 2017.
A native of Statesville, NC, she was the wife of the late H. Edward “Ed” Alexander and the daughter of Richard and Lena Anderson, both deceased. Betty was a graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. As a homemaker and community volunteer, she served her family, Alamance County Hospital, Allied Churches, and First Presbyterian Church where she played the chimes. Known for her bright smile and many friends, her interests included her faith, bridge, needlework, music, everything Tar Heel, current events, and her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane A. Freeman and husband Allen of Crozet, VA; son, Richard E. (Rick) Alexander and wife Nancy of Lake in the Hills, IL; three grandchildren: Alex Freeman of Boston, MA, John Freeman of Nashville, TN, and William Alexander of Naperville, IL; two sisters-in-law: Faye Alexander of Burlington and Martha Alexander of Pineville, NC. A daughter, Gail Alexander, preceded her in death.
Rev. Norman Whitney will conduct a memorial service in the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends in the Board Room immediately following the service. A private burial in Pine Hill Cemetery will precede the memorial service.
