Mr William A."Bill" Thomas Sr.

William A. Thomas Sr. (Bill) of Burlington, NC, born May 23, 1937 passed away on July 17th, 2019 at the Hospice Home after several years of declining health.

He is survived by his spouse of 60 years, Loretta Sykes Thomas of Burlington. Together they had four children, Al (spouse Monica) of Haw River, Chris (spouse Jaci) of Hillsborough, Tony of Burlington and Missy (spouse Randy) of Brown Summit. Bill is survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving is his faithful, furry friend, Brandi. He was preceded in death by his parents Alma and James Alfred Thomas, two siblings Ronald Thomas (brother) and Vivian Davis (sister).

Bill was born in Reidsville and grew up in Burlington. He was a graduate of Elon High School and served his country in the US Army. Bill retired after thirty years of service with Bell South and AT&T.

Bill enjoyed his retirement time on the patio under the shade tree watching the world go by and “smelling the roses”. He enjoyed playing golf, corn-hole and spending the winters in Florida.

The family will receive visitors at St. Mark’s Church chapel on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 followed by a celebration of his life at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Alamance Memorial Park following the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
