William Eason Price Jr

Bill Price, 87, passed peacefully on October 30, 2018. The youngest child of William E. Price, Sr. and Stella Phelps Price, he was born in High Point, NC.

He graduated from Granby High School in Norfolk, Va., where he developed a love of music in the marching band and orchestra. After graduation, he served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. After his military discharge, he graduated from Virginia Tech, where he met his future wife, Aundree Bryant, a student at nearby Radford University.

Bill was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, son, grandfather and great-grandfather. He possessed a caring spirit and devoted much of his professional career in the service of those with special needs, retiring from the NC Division of Mental Health. For 30 years spanning the period before and after retirement, he served as the primary caregiver to his wife until her death in 2006. He also was instrumental in the development of The Willows, a 40 unit affordable housing complex for low-income seniors, which opened in 1998. He is remembered as a kind individual, a fine story-teller, and a gifted conversationalist.

He was predeceased by his parents and his wife of 51 years. He is survived by his children – William E. Price, III (Deborah) of Madison, NC; Vicki B. Price of Mebane, NC; Timothy S. Price of Raleigh, NC; Gregory W. Price (Cheryl) of Willow Spring, NC; and Jeffrey P. Price (Jennifer) of Rockwell, NC; grandchildren William E. Price, IV (Ashley), Ryan Price, Sarah Mikilia (Andrew), Garrett Price, Mara Price-Quinn (Leo), Jeremy Price and great grandchildren, Eason and Addie Price.

The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home, 306 Glenwood Ave., Burlington, NC on Saturday, November 10 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

A Memorial Service will be held at Elon Community Church, 271 N. Williamson Ave., Elon, NC on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 3:00 pm followed by a reception in the Family Life Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elon Community Church or to a charity of your choice.
