William H. “Bill” Lashley

    Mr. William H. (Bill) Lashley of Burlington passed away Saturday November 28, 2020 at Moses Cone Hospital. He was native of Alamance County. He is survived by his wife Peggy Lashley, his son William T. (Bill) Lashley, his daughter Melissa Hadley and husband Ben.  Two grandchildren Ella and Bryce Hadley. He is survived by a Stepson Jon Lambert and stepdaughter Kim Black (Fred). Susan Lambert and Step-Grandchildren Melinda Lambert, Walker Black, Will and Jacob Ingle. He is survived by his 2 sisters Julia Talbert, Cely Hughes (Danny), 2 brothers George Lashley (Linda) and Danny Lashley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Eleanor Lashley, his first wife Sandra B. Lashley, Son Robert “Robbie” Lashley, brothers Robert Lee Lashley, David Lashley, Ben Martin and stepson Jimmy Lambert.

He attended the University of Tennessee. He began his career at Burlington Engineering, he retired from Lorillard as an Engineer. He joined the Burlington Police Auxiliary Unit in late 1969.  He served on the Burlington City Council in the mid 1980’s.  Bill was a current serving member of the Alamance County Board of Commissioners where he served for 22 years. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church.  Bill was an avid hunter, hiker and bicyclist. He loved and enjoyed his wonderful group of close friends in his hiking group. They hiked all over the United States. He was always looking for the next great adventure. He loved his country and Alamance County. He showed his family dedication, love and support every single day.

 There will be a viewing at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 without the family present, due to the new COVID-19 restrictions. Visitations to the family can be made on Wednesday December 2nd at the home of his daughter Melissa Hadley at 113 Whitesell Dr. Elon from 12-8 pm and at the home of his wife Peggy Lashley on Wednesday from 12-4pm. Funeral will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington on Thursday December 3, 2020 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers Memorials can be made to the Robbie Lashley Memorial Scholarship Fund or The Patricia Bynum Foundation.
