William Gilbert Fuquay, Jr.
William Gilbert Fuquay, Jr., 90, of Homeplace of Burlington and Dorsett Street, Burlington, died Tuesday 2/11/2020, at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Joan Blanchard Fuquay and the son of William G. “Jack” Fuquay and Maude Graham Fuquay, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary William Fuquay and a sister, Cleo Fuquay Thompson.
Mr. Fuquay was a veteran of the U. S. Army and retired from Lucent Technologies (Western Electric), where he was an Engineering Associate. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elon. At one time, he served on the Administrative Board and the Board of Trustees of the church. He formerly taught Youth Sunday School and the Men’s Bible Class.
He is survived by his son, Gregory C. Fuquay, of Atlanta, GA; nephew, Ronald Thompson and his wife, Pat, of Burlington and two nieces, Laurel Blanchard Edwards and husband, John and Nancy Blanchard LaMuraglia and her husband Jamie, all of Greensboro.
A service to celebrate Gil’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday 2/14/2020 at the First United Methodist Church of Elon.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
