Willard Lee "Abby" Abernathy

Willard Lee (Abby) Abernathy, 57, of Largo, FL passed away at his residence on March 1, 2018.

A native of Burlington, NC he was the son of Walter Willard Abernathy and Vivian Meldine Gover, both deceased. He was a 24 year veteran of the United States Air Force, earning the rank of Captain. Abby attended the Chapel by the Sea in Clearwater, FL. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing his drums.

He is survived by his uncle Buddy Gover and wife Gladys of Graham and numerous cousins and co-workers.

A memorial service will be held at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM by Dr. Eugene Hunsinger. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service on Sunday at Rich & Thompson in Burlington from 1:30 until 2:00 PM.
