Obituary


Wilburn “Steve” Coggins, an equipment operator and lifelong resident of Alamance County, passed away on Nov. 14, 2021 at the age of 75 years old.

Steve is survived by; his wife of 50 years Rickie Alvis Coggins, son Curtis Wayne Coggins (Shellie), and daughter Rickie Marie Coggins, his brother Franklin Coggins, his sisters Margie Thompson, Littie Norris, Dorothy Strader, Betty Simpson. He is preceded in death by both parents Harvey Glen Coggins and Mary Elizabeth Coggins, and brother Harold Coggins.

Steve was born July 18, 1946. He went to serve in the Army during Vietnam in 1967-1968. He came home and worked in construction. He met his wife, Rickie and married her Oct 15, 1971, raised a son and daughter within their 50 years of marriage. He was a devoted father and husband. He was hard working and always willing to lend a hand to friends and family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses and country living. He has traveled most of the United States within his lifetime at the side of his lovely wife. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him well.

A grave side service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November18, 2021 at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will be speaking on his behalf. In lieu of flowers, Steve has asked that donations be given to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
