Mr. Walter (Claron) Radcliff Jr., 90, of Homeplace of Burlington passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Buncombe County, Asheville NC, he was the son of the late Walter Hubert Radcliff and Jessie Savannah Sluder Radcliff. Mr. Radcliff served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired after 32 years of federal service as Chief of Purchasing and Contracting at the VA Medical Center in Asheville. After retiring, Mr. Radcliff was also owner and operator of Walt’s CB and Scanner Sales in Asheville for 24 years. He was known on the CB radio as “Jolly Green Giant.” Mr. Radcliff was an avid bowler in numerous leagues for many years.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra R. Coker and husband Jerry of Burlington; three grandchildren, Chris Coker of Raleigh, Eric Coker and wife Laura of Durham, Jeffrey Coker and wife Beth of New Wilmington, PA, and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Donald Radcliff of Swannanoa.
A private graveside service will be held in Asheville, NC.
