Obituary
Mr. Walter “King David” Jones, 91, of 2224 Phibbs Road, Lot 4, Elon went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 6:16 a.m.
A native of Faison, NC, he was the husband of the late Vivian Perry Jones and the son of Marion Thomas Jones and Maddie Hudson Jones, both deceased. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during World War II as a ships serviceman seaman. He was 1st Commander of the VFW, Post 10607. He was owner and operator of Dave’s Tailor Shop in Burlington for over 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith. David never met a stranger and touched everyone’s life who met him.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura “Annette” Jones (Terry); son, Kenneth “Kenny” Jones; granddaughter, Emily Jones; special niece and nephew, Carolyn Sandy and Ronald Sandy (Candy); nieces and nephews, Branden Sandy, Sean Sandy, Brooke Sandy High (Mark), Brittany Sandy Murphy (Pat), Rose Heather, Katt Romero (Chino), Steve Jones (Debbie), Joe Jones (Claudia), Curtis Jones (Charla), Denise Capozzi (Steven), Sue Jordan (Bobby), Paul Jones (Kitty) and Kenny Jones (Barbara); numerous great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews; and other beloved family members. He was preceded in death by a son, David “Davy” Jones, Jr.; four brothers, Red, T. C., Coleman and Woody; and four sisters, Elizabeth, Gladys, Shelva and Christine; nephew, Donald Lee Sandy.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 5 until 7 p.m. Other times the family will be at the residence.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. by Mr. Ronald Sandy. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
