Mrs. Virginia Carden Sykes, 95, of Graham passed away at her residence on Friday, May 25, 2018.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late George Herman Sykes and the daughter of William W. Carden and Clara Murchison Carden, both deceased. Virginia was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Graham.
Mrs. Sykes is survived by two daughters, Georgia Terrell and husband, Eugene of Mebane and Cheryl Perry and husband, Rock of Graham; son, David E. Sykes of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Chris Bescher and wife, Terri, Lori Bescher Green, David E. Sykes, Jr. and wife, Wendy, Emily Sykes, Casey Perry Johnston and husband, Trent, Kristin Perry Vincent and husband, Jonathan, and Taylor Perry; chosen granddaughter, Kristin Holt; six great grandchildren; and sister, Adele Tate of Graham.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mozelle Large and Carnell Flynn; and four brothers, Dace Carden, Garfield Carden, Thomas Carden and Erving Carden.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Kevin Baker. Entombment will follow at the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
