Virginia “Dare” Cheek Patterson, 85, of Snow Camp passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
A native of Randolph County, she was the wife of the late Jack Holt Patterson Sr. and was the daughter of Richard Lane Cheek and Clara Brady Cheek, both deceased. She was formerly employed with Greensboro Manufacturing and Ye Old Country Kitchen and retired from GKN. She volunteered with the Sylvan Ruritan Club and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Dare was a member of Cane Creek Friends Meeting and was a beloved mom, grandma, and great-grandma who was known for her witty sense of humor. She always said that friends are like family.
Survivors includes two daughters, Debbie Sanders and Shanda Newport of Snow Camp; son, Jack Patterson and wife Shari of Snow Camp; five grandchildren, Sarah Schrodt and husband Zach, Daniel Sanders, Megan Patterson, Faith Patterson, and Brianna Meyers and husband Dylan; one great-grandchild, Magnolia Schrodt; and sister, Faye Dunn. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Lucille Cox, Ethel Albright, Georgia Bray, Swanna Moffitt, Laughton Cheek, Broughton Cheek, Boyd Cheek, Jimmy Cheek, and Franklin Cheek.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., and at other times at her daughter’s residence at 8900 Snow Camp Rd., Snow Camp, NC 27349.
The funeral service will be conducted at Cane Creek Friends Meeting on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. by Dr. Cheryl Benson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
