Verna Lucille Hinshaw Williams

Verna Lucille Hinshaw Williams, 97, went home to be with her heavenly Father on May 24, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Lucille was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all who knew her.

She was born in Alamance County to the late Vern Albert Hinshaw, Sr. and the late Rosa Bare Hinshaw and was the wife of the late John Earl Williams for 64 years who was the love of her life.

Lucille graduated from Burlington High School and retired from Sellars Hosiery Mills. She loved to sing and sang with the Rainbow Girls in her earlier years. She was a member of Harvest Hills Church of God.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Combs (Melvin) of Burlington and Linda Jordan of Graham; five grandchildren, Terry Rhew, Keith Jordan, David Jones, Chad Jordan and Derek Williams; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Lee Hinshaw (Vanetta) of Maryland; a very special nephew, Vernon Moore (Peggy) of Gibsonville; and very dear and close friends, Larry and Teresa Allred.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Dale Williams; three sisters, Olene Scott, Alma Jewell Moore and Eunice Smith; and three brothers, Vern Albert Hinshaw, Jr., Hurley Franklin Hinshaw and Larry Hinshaw.

A funeral service to celebrate Lucille’s life will be conducted at Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. by Dr. Russell Morris and Larry Allred with family receiving friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place on Monday at Alamance Memorial Park. At other times, the family will be at 1233 Cedar Crest Drive, Graham, NC.
