Velma S. Hauser, 93, formerly of Regency Dr. Burlington, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Homeplace of Burlington, following a brief illness.
A native of Forsyth County, she was the loving wife of the late Rev. Joseph J. Hauser for 66 years and the daughter of William Buford Shropshire and Minnie Joyce Shropshire, both deceased. Velma was most recently a member of the First United Methodist Church of Graham. She had been active in all the churches in which her husband served as pastor, including Bryson City, Canton, Greensboro, Hickory, Reidsville, China Grove, Winston- Salem, and High Point.
She is survived by a son, Mark Hauser and his wife, Ann, of Burlington; a daughter, Susan Hauser and her partner, Julia Merricks, of Raleigh; 2 grandchildren, Catherine Mills and husband Patrick, of Burlington, Rebecca Hurdle and husband Robbie, of Gibsonville and 4 great grandchildren, Madison, Trent, Ann Elizabeth and Catie; along with a sister, Ruth Baker of Portsmouth, Va.
A private funeral service for the family will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Graham on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.am. The service will be live streamed for those wishing to share in her service. To view the live stream, please visit the church website. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Elon. Rev. Claire Clyburn will officiate.
