Mr. Thomas “Howard” Stafford, Sr., 91, of Liberty passed away at the Hospice Home on Sunday,
April 7, 2019 at 3:07 p.m. following one year of declining health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Winnie Greeson Stafford, who survives and the son of Talton Eugene Stafford and Jeanette Bowman Stafford, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army-Air Corps serving during World War II and attended N. C. State University. Mr. Stafford worked at Western Electric, Tomlinson Plumbing Supply and was owner and operator of Triad Plumbing Supply. He was a member of Low’s Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council and as a Sunday School Teacher and Boy Scout Leader.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a son, Thomas Howard Stafford, Jr. and wife Vicki of Elon; daughter, Joan Stafford Walters and husband Gerald of Burlington; three grandsons, Nicholas Walters and wife Sarah of Ocean Isle, NC, Brennan Stafford and wife Jennifer of Hudson, NH and Nathan Walters and wife Heather of Burlington; two great-grandchildren, Callie Mae Walters and Nolan Mann Walters; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at Low’s Lutheran Church on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. by Rev. John Mark Beam, III with the family receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. Other times, the family will be at the residence.
