Obituary

Thomas J. “Tommy” Hadley

Thomas J. “Tommy” Hadley, 74, of Graham passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 7:32 a.m. Tommy suffered from years of rheumatoid arthritis which caused scarring in his lungs, preventing him from being able to fight off the intense fungal pneumonia that he acquired in March.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 49 years to Alice Hadley, his loving wife and helpmate, who survives and is the son of Jacob R. Hadley and Esther Davis Hadley, both deceased. He was a lifelong farmer and retired from Purina Mills after nearly 50 years in the field of Feed and Dairy Nutrition. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He greatly loved the Lord, enjoyed reading and studying the Bible, and deeply loved his family.

In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include a son, Will Hadley and wife Dena of Graham; Ellen Crayton and husband Tripp of Graham; and three grandchildren, Alexis Wolfe, Bristol Hadley, and Hadley Crayton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bennett Hadley.

The funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Olive Baptist Church on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Josh Peeler and Rev. Henry Thompson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the committal service.

The service will be broadcast on radio station 88.3FM, in the church parking lot, for those who prefer not going into the sanctuary.  Please note that the church requires that masks are worn.  We respect all individuals’ decisions to attend or not due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Eli Whitney Ruritans Club.
