Obituary
Mr. Thomas Edward Barnwell, 74, of Burlington, NC passed away on August 09, 2022 at AuthoraCare Hospice of Alamance. A native of Alamance Co., NC, he was the son of the late J.C. Barnwell and Elizabeth Wade Barnwell.
Tom served in the US Navy during the Vietnam conflict. Tom has worked in the HVAC-R field since 1973. He was a NC licensed refrigeration contractor. He retired from Lab Corp after 28 years' service. Tom and Sue loved camping and went every chance they could. Since his retirement in 2011, their camping travels included 46 states, staying three to four months on each adventure.
Tom is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sue Jones Barnwell, his daughters, Michelle B. Mayton (Robbie), Christina B. Madden, and Jessica B. Sneed (Len), son Richard A. Bruton (Johna), seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brother Charles Holt Barnwell, sister Judith Caroline Barnwell, brother-in-law Bill Mosher, one niece and nephew, and his Jack Russell Terrier, Pepper Grace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Revonda Barnwell Mosher, his sister-in-law, Faye Barnwell, and two great granddaughters.
A visitation and celebration of Tommy's life will be held at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Face masks are required.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7027 Albert Pick Rd., Suite 104, Greensboro, NC 27409.
