Thelma Hensley Cooper, 81, of Burlington died Saturday, July 24.
A soft spoken, kind, gentle woman, with a quick laugh, she was a retired registered nurse in Alamance County, having received her GED and Nursing degree at ACC. She particularly enjoyed working with the elderly.
She was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Painting was a lifetime passion of hers, along with her love of quilting & sewing, having made and given away over 100 aprons in the past few years as well as masks during the pandemic for anyone in need.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. Elzie Gibson and Hazel Tapp Gibson, and was predeceased by husbands C.W. Wade Hensley and Wilmer “Bill” Cooper, two brothers and one grandchild.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters: Johnny Wade Hensley (Rebecca), Connie H. Bowman (Steve), Timothy Shannon Hensley (Ivy) and Anna H. Roberts (Heath). Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, along with two sisters and one brother; Velma Gibson Williams, Edna West and Bryce Gibson.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
