Tennie Lee "T.L." Melton

Tennie Lee “T.L.” Melton, 82, of Burlington passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Friday, October 9, 2020 following several months of declining health.

A native of Person County, NC, he was the husband of Charlotte Shotwell Melton, who survives and son of Samuel G. Melton and Gray Yancey Melton, both deceased. After high school, he attended DeVry University in Chicago, IL where he earned a degree in electronics. He then moved to Burlington, NC and obtained a degree from Elon College in physics. He retired after 39 years of service as an engineering associate with Lucent Technologies, formerly Western Electric and AT&T. After his retirement, he worked part time as an assistant to the Building Manager at the Medical Arts Center at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was a charter member of Holly Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Usher, former Sunday School Director and former Chairman of the Building Committee. He loved the Lord and was very dedicated to his church and family.

In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include one son, Ken L. Melton of Burlington; daughter, Tracy Melton Tolley and husband Wes of Graham; two granddaughters, Caitlin Tolley and Lindsay Tolley; a sister-in-law, Janet Melton of Danville, VA; and several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Melton and wife Betty Lee of Roxboro, NC and William Melton of Danville, VA. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.

A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. by Dr. Gene Hunsinger. Please observe social distancing protocol and bring a chair so you can attend the graveside service comfortably.  Family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m.
