Mr. Sonny "J.D." Bare

Mr. Sonny “J.D.” Bare, 80, of Burlington, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at his residence.

A native of Ashe County, NC, he was the husband of the late Peggy Joyce Wilson Bare and the son of Edward Thomas and Lessie Bare, both deceased. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Kimesville Road Baptist Church, and was an avid woodworker.

Survivors include three children, Janice Lloyd and husband Kenneth of Burlington, Tommy Bare of Burlington, and Joyce Ritter and husband Alan of Homosassa, Florida; five grandchildren, Shaun Lloyd and wife Amanda, Ryan Lloyd, Jennifer Ayers and husband Bruce, Regina Ritter, and Skylar Ritter; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Cliff Bare and wife Peggie, and Clay Bare; two sisters, Ruby Owens and husband J.E., and Georgia Blalock and husband Joe; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Bare, and 13 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Kimesville Road Baptist Church with Pastor Alan Ritter officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:45 – 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church and at other times will be at the residence.
