Kerry Scott Rhodes

Kerry “Scott” Rhodes, 62, of Burlington passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Patricia Brannock Rhodes, who survives and the son of Herbert H. Rhodes and Sarah Virginia Byers Rhodes, both deceased.

Scott was Managing Partner of Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Services in Burlington and Graham. Throughout his career, he served many families in the important task of honoring and remembering their loved ones. He also served as a former member with the National Disaster Medical Systems' DMORT Family Assistance Team and DMORT’s Region 4 team.  He first served with DMORT during the aftermath of Hurricane Floyd in North Carolina and had multiple deployments to Mississippi and Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. Scott also assisted in the Joplin, Missouri tornado catastrophe and with the crash of Comair Flight 5181 in Lexington, Kentucky. 

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, he will always be remembered as a loving father to his two children, Delaney Brannock Rhodes of Mokpo, South Korea and Cameron Scott Rhodes of the home. Other survivors include his sister, Dawn Rhodes Hurdle and husband Willie of Burlington; three brothers, Herbert M. “Chip” Rhodes and wife Peggy Jo of Wilmington, James Todd Rhodes, Sr. and wife Nina of Roxboro, and Christopher D. Rhodes and wife Susanne of Burlington; sister-in-law, Jane Brannock of Burlington; nieces and nephews, Dustin Hurdle (Cara), Tadd Rhodes, Casey Parker (Matthew), Will Rhodes, Sam Rhodes, Grier Briggs, Thomas “Skip” Rodney, and Kelly Bradshaw (Craig); and great nieces and nephews, Ben Hurdle, Blake Hurdle, Sara Margaret Parker, Taylor Bradshaw, Victoria Bradshaw, Grant Bradshaw, and Garrett Bradshaw.  Scott was preceded in death by a nephew,  James Todd "T.J." Rhodes, Jr.

The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Other times, they will be at the residence.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Seyun Hwang and Rev. Don Pegg.  A private burial for family and staff will be held immediately following the service.
