Mrs. Sarah Moser Totten Hall, 93, of Burlington, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at home after several months of declining health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Lloyd Fred Totten, Sr. and the late Hugh Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents Gerry and Flora Moser; son Lloyd Fred Totten, Jr.; and sister, Lucille Layell.
Sarah was homemaker and had a small daycare in her home for years where she watched many children from the neighborhood and community. She was an avid gardener and loved growing flowers which she used for altar arrangements at church. She also baked and decorated birthday and wedding cakes for many years for neighbors, friends and relatives. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and photography.
Sarah was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and of the Faith Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Totten and wife Hilda of Burlington and Steve Totten and wife Marjorie of Graham; daughter-in-law, Nellie Totten of Mebane; a step-son, Marvin Hall and Claudia of Maryland; a sister, Emily Gurkin of Burlington and a brother, Eugene Moser of Burlington; seven grandchildren; Tonya Oakley of Mebane, Bert Totten and wife Laura of Leland, Amy Scarlett and husband Mike of Mebane, Matt Totten and wife Julie of Iowa; and Lindsay Totten, Brad Totten, and Abby Totten, all of Greensboro; eight great grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren and six nieces and nephews. The family would also like to recognize special friends, Tommy and Brenda Shaw of Cleveland, Georgia along with daughters Sharon and Kim.
The funeral will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 8 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Burlington by Rev. Nathan Hooks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington from 5 to 7 on Saturday, October 7, and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 2719 Bellemont-Alamance Rd, Burlington, NC 27215.
