Ruth Chriscoe Dishman

Ms. Ruth Chriscoe Dishman, 79, passed away peacefully at Liberty Commons on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 9:20 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Henry Harrison Chriscoe and Maude Agnes Cooper Chriscoe, both deceased. Ms. Dishman was a financial clerk for Social Services. She attained a private pilot’s license at age 32 and was the first woman to solo at the Burlington Airport. Ruth loved listening and singing to Bluegrass music.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Dishman of Greensboro; granddaughter, Ariel Dishman Mosely and husband Aaron; great-grandson, Briar Mosely; brother, Henry Chriscoe and wife Bobbie; and sister, Ruby Lee Lassiter.

Ms. Dishman was preceded in death by a son, Kevin DeWitt Dishman; three brothers, Alton Chriscoe, Elvin Chriscoe and Cecil Chriscoe; and two sisters, Blanche Chriscoe Euliss and Gladys Mae Chriscoe Smith.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. by Pastor Bob Cauthren, former Pastor of Hopedale Church. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
