Obituary

Mr. Ronald Gray Kirkpatrick, Sr. “Ronnie”, 76, of Burlington passed away peacefully at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 17, 2018 to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A native of Alamance County, he was son of the late Graham Horner Kirkpatrick, Sr. and the late Dorothy Edith Kennedy Kirkpatrick. He is survived by his three sons, Ronald Gray Kirkpatrick, Jr. and wife Tina of Graham, Randall Scott Kirkpatrick and wife Christina of Pinehurst, Matt Horner Kirkpatrick and wife Lisa of Raleigh, their mother Linda Kirkpatrick and six grandchildren, Trey, Mary Anna, Peter, Grace, Claire and Ladd, his brother Graham Horner Kirkpatrick, Jr. and wife Sandra of Burlington, sister Fonda Brittain and husband Daniel of Hickory and several nieces and nephews. He loved his family dearly.

An Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow recipient, he lived by his family motto “I make sure” making leadership and accountability his creed. After graduating from E.M. Holt High School and Burlington Business College he became a lifelong entrepreneur building companies that over time employed thousands in the community. From farming to contracting to mining, he relished the challenges of business and rose to conquer them daily. His high school motto “I came, I saw, I conquered” proved formidable of a life full of adventure, passion and high achievement, excitement followed him. Ronnie was President of Triangle Grading and Paving, Inc., G.S. Materials Inc., K-Farms, Inc and others. He was a member of Alamance Lutheran Church.

He loved his country, the United States of America, the freedoms and opportunities it provides and was forever grateful to the service members who sacrificed for those liberties, sponsoring a memorial bus trip for veterans as gratitude.

He was legendary to all he met, bringing energy, enthusiasm and southern charm to every occasion, he will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 5 until 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted at Alamance Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Ronald D. Philabaum. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will reside at 4230 Clapp Mill Road before and after the services.
