Roger Preston Talbert, Sr.

Mr. Roger Preston Talbert, Sr., 78, of Graham passed away at the Hospice Home on Monday, October 1, 2018.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Dianne Way Talbert, who survives and the son of George Talbert and Alice Eanes Talbert, both deceased. Mr. Talbert was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving as a military policeman. He earned a Business Administration Degree from Elon University and received a Certificate from the state of North Carolina for General Advanced Law Enforcement. He retired from the Burlington Police Department as a police officer having served from 1966 – 1994. He was a member of the 50+ Golf Team and Senior Golf Team.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a son, Preston Talbert and wife Frances of Hamlett; three step-daughters, Renee Godfrey and husband Joe of Pittsboro, Donna Self and husband Mark of Elon and Kelly White and husband Ray of Graham; step-son, Steven Winn and wife Heidi of Graham; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Christine Smith, Susie Hicks and Joyce Coble and three brothers, Stacy, Kenneth and Willie Talbert.

The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 6 until 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, October 4 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Howard Thompson. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
