Rita S. Arnette

Rita S. Arnette, 78, of Burlington passed away at the Village at Brookwood on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 9:16 a.m.

A native of Mecklenburg County, NC, she was the wife of William Thomas “Tom” Arnette, who survives and the daughter of Clarence LeRoy Saunders and Ruby Alberta Brooks Saunders, both deceased. She was a retired librarian and school teacher. Rita was a member of the Burlington-Alamance Bridge Club, the Burlington-Alamance Newcomers Club, past President of the Alamance Chorale, and former President of the Brookwood Residents Association. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Snow Camp, NC.

In addition to her husband of their home, survivors include two sons, William T. Arnette, Jr. and wife Meg of Cary, and David B. Arnette and wife Anne of Apex; sister, Marge Hudson of Concord; two brothers, Ron Saunders and wife Sara of Shelby and Tim Saunders and wife Linda of Huntersville; sister-in-law, Janet Saunders; and four grandchildren, Christopher Arnette, Jonathan Arnette, Paige Arnette, and Mark Arnette. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Saunders.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Rita will be held  at 2:00 p.m., on Friday,  6/18/2021 at the Gathering Place in the Village at Brookwood.
