Richard Wayne Safrit

Richard Wayne Safrit, 76, died after several days of declining health on Thursday, July 15 at ARMC. He was born February 11, 1945 in Salisbury North Carolina to the late George Richard Safrit and Grace Curlee Safrit.

He graduated from East Rowan High School and attended East Carolina University. He met his wife, Jocelyn, in 1967 and they would have celebrated fifty-three years of marriage this August. He was in furniture sales for over 40 years and an active member of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Burlington since 1978.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Gary Vern Safrit. Surviving, in addition to his wife Jocelyn, are his daughters Carrie Safrit Daniels and her husband Ryan, and Lee Safrit Pinson and her husband Blake, both of Burlington; five grandchildren, Hannahgrace Daniels, Hunter Daniels, Trey Whitaker, Miles Pinson, and Rhett Pinson; one brother, Jeffrey Lynn Safrit, and his wife Janice, of Salisbury; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Richard was a phenomenal husband and father. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was well known for his incredible sense of humor, infectious laugh, and his ability to bring joy to others. He will undoubtedly be deeply missed by so many.

The family will receive friends and family at the home of Ryan and Carrie Daniels, 2319 Westover Terrace in Burlington, on Tuesday July 20, from 6:30-8:00PM. The funeral service will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter, Burlington, at 11:00 Wednesday, July 21, reception to follow. Those who wish to remember Richard in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Episcopal Church or a charity of their choice.
