Richard Lewis Cox Sr.

Burlington – Mr. Richard Lewis Cox, Sr., 96, of 204 Bland Blvd. Burlington, NC passed away at Moses Cone Hospital on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

   A native of Henry County, Virginia, he was the husband of 58 years to the late Mrs. Lynna Gray Reitzel Cox and the son of Robert Wheeler Cox and Betty Kate Cox, both deceased. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Western Electric. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and going to the Coast. Richard was an avid Wake Forest Demon Deacons fan.

   Survivors include two sons, Richard Lewis Cox, Jr. and his wife, Maureen of Birmingham, AL and Jeffrey Brian Cox of Burlington; four grandchildren, David Cox, Casey Cox, Pressley Cox and Catherine Cox; and daughter-in-law, Claree Cox. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Lynne Cox; a son, Stephen Martin Cox; and a grandson, Paul Lewis Cox.

   A graveside service will be held at Alamance Memorial Park on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 3:30 pm.
