Rebecca Lynn Powers Biddy

September 15, 1954 ~ April 6, 2024 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Obituary

Rebecca “Becky” Powers Biddy, 69, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

Becky was a native of Northern Kentucky and lived in Edgewood, Kentucky when she met F. Douglas Biddy, Jr., her husband of 42 1/2 years. Doug and Becky’s first meeting was in a department store in Cincinnati. There, Becky convinced Doug to buy a sport coat and they hit it off instantly. The two were married seven months later. After a year of marriage, they moved to North Carolina and made Burlington their home. They were soul mates who adored each other and had a wonderful life together.

Becky was the daughter of Frank and Iola (Sweet) Powers, both deceased. She was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  Her unconditional love for her daughters and grandchildren was immeasurable. She was very proud of her two daughters and loved spoiling the grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than having her grandchildren over for the weekends to cook, play, and spend quality time together. One of her greatest joys was buying dresses for the granddaughters when they were small. It reminded her of the special times doing the same for her daughters when they were younger.

Becky was the creative force behind their general contracting business, F. Douglas Biddy Construction, Inc. She understood every aspect of making a house a home. With her strength in interior design, she brought an additional dimension to her client’s projects. The subcontractors called her “Eagle Eye” because of her attention to detail. She was adept at both new home construction and remodeling.

Becky was most passionate about food and cooking; whether it was canning tomatoes, or preparing a five-star meal, no cuisine was too challenging for her to recreate at home.  She and Doug enjoyed traveling throughout the USA where they loved experiencing new cuisines as well as touring new towns and cities.  Becky showed her love through her cooking and dinner parties.  She had a servant’s heart, always putting others first and hosting friends and family year-round.  She had a smile that lit up the room and could make anyone feel welcomed.  Her sisters and friends described her as wise and one of the best listeners a friend could have, always offering sound advice.

In addition to her husband of their home, she is survived by two daughters, Tiffany Vories Hambright of Haw River, Brittany Biddy Russell, and her husband, Randy, of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Tyler Hambright, Evan Hambright, Parker Russell, Lawson Russell, and Bella Grace Russell; seven siblings, Linda Felix, Rodney Powers, Vickie Brennan, Kathy Allen, Tina Brossart, Sherri Sims, and Gaines Martin.

A memorial service will be held at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:00am. The family will host a Celebration of Life at Alamance Country Club  from 1:00-3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Carmel Educational Foundation.
