Mr. Raymond Conrad “Connie” Thiel, 80, of Burlington passed away at his residence on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 11:31 a.m.
A native of Rockingham County, he was the husband of 53 years to Shirley Morris Thiel, who survives and the son of Henry Jackson Thiel and Eva Lauten Thiel, both deceased. He was a member of the N. C. Air National Guard and retired from Bell South. He was a life member of C.W.A. where he served as President, Vice-President, and Treasurer of the Local 3602 Chapter and Vice-President of C.W.A. State Political Council. He was also a Mason. Connie was a very active member of Stony Creek Presbyterian Church since 1946.
In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include a son, Gary Lee Thiel; brother, Henry Thiel and wife Peggy; sister, Mary Ellis and husband Rick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at Stony Creek Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. by Pastor Mason Todd with the family receiving friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the service.
Memorials may be made to Stony Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund or North Central Volunteer Fire Department.
