Greenville, SC - Raymail Eliza Poplin Coleman, 95, beloved wife and mother passed away peacefully on May 18, 2019.
Born in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Miles Crawford and Dorothy Amanda Morgan Poplin. As one of nine children, affectionately called “Ray,” she grew up in Stanly County. Later, the family moved to Burlington, NC. After World War II, she married John Henry Coleman III at Fairview United Methodist Church in Elon, NC. They were married for 65 years and lived in Burlington for years and then moved to Cheraw, SC, when Mr. Coleman was transferred with Burlington Industries. Upon retirement, they moved to Greenville, SC.
Raymail was a homemaker and through the years worked for Longs, Sacony, and Stanley Companies. Her hobbies and interests included cooking, walking, flower-gardening, and playing golf. She enjoyed vacations and spending time with her family. Most of all, she was an avid Clemson sports fan and rarely missed watching the Tigers play. In addition, she was a former member of First Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC, East North Street Baptist Church, Greenville, SC, and Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Taylors, SC.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Ray Coleman, of Greenville, SC, and her youngest sister, Clydia Jones, of Burlington, NC. Other survivors include many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Raymail was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers: Etta Beeker, Peggy Polston, Lou Bailey, Nell Martin, Pallie Greene, Cletus Poplin, and Miles Crawford Poplin, as well as a treasured grand-dog Fitz.
The family would like to thank St. Francis Downtown Hospital staff, nurses, and doctors as well as Comfort Keepers Caregivers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington, N.C. Reverend Don Pegg will officiate. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 P.M., prior to the service at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home.
