Ramona McKinney Stainback, 94, of Burlington passed away at her residence on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 10:25 p.m.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of 69 years to the late Cleland Ross Stainback and the daughter of William Prescott McKinney and Sadie Walker McKinney, both deceased.
Ramona was a homemaker. She loved making quilts and was well known for her cakes. She was a member of Kerr’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda S. Firth (Bill); daughter-in-law, Cathy Johnson (Chris); six grandchildren, Tim Cozart (Jamie), Jennifer Kenyon (Cliff), Angie Wilson (Steve), Alan Michael Stainback (Laura), Katie Stainback, and Abbie Stainback; five great-grandchildren, Presley Cozart, Avery Cozart, Vivian Kenyon, Levi Wilson, and Briar Stainback; two step-grandchildren, Karen Simpson (Shawn) and Michael Firth (Christine); two step-great-grandchildren, Jordan Hauser (Matt) and Hunter Simpson; step-great-great grandson, Stetson Shawn Hauser; and two sisters, Carolyn Pattillo of Caswell County and Pat Carter of Reidsville. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ross Michael Stainback and Cleland Eric Stainback; four sisters, Evelyn McKinney, Aileen Talbert, Betty Pitman, and Eleanor Shumate; and two brothers, Walker McKinney and Jimmy McKinney.
The funeral service will be conducted at Kerr’s Chapel Baptist Church on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. by Rev. Paul Traywick. The service will be broadcast live via radio transmission from the church parking lot on 91.3 FM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of her daughter, Rhonda Firth, 438 McCray Road, Burlington, NC.
