Ralph Newlin Clark

Ralph Newlin Clark passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 23, 2021.  Ralph was the son of Vet and Mary Newlin Clark of Siler City, NC. 

Ralph was married to Orpha Poe Clark, his school sweetheart, for 63 years.

Ralph served in the US Army in Korea during the Korean War.  Afterwards, he returned home and attended Durham Barber College. He and Orpha moved to Burlington around 1960 and he worked first as a barber with Castle Britt Barbershop and later opened Clark's Barbershop in the Village of Alamance.

After barbering for many years, Ralph went to work at General Electric ED&C in Mebane, NC.  He retired from GE after 20 years of service and spent part of his retirement working along side his wife Orpha at Grandaddy's Antiques in Burlington.

Ralph was active in his church, The First Baptist Church of Alamance. He loved tractors and car racing .

Ralph is preceded in death by his wife Orpha Clark,  his parents Vet and Mary Clark, his sisters Eunice Phillips, Alma Teague, Josie Hinshaw, Kathleen York, Frances Allen, and Mary Clark,  his brothers Paul Clark, Ben Clark, Jerome Clark, James Clark, Frank Clark, and Clyde Clark.

He is survived by his son James Clark and daughter-in-law Julie Clark.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, 11/29/2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rocky River Friends Meeting Cemetery.  Rev. Dave Hobson will officiate.  The public may stop by and pay their respects to Mr. Clark from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday 11/28/2021 at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington. Due to recent health issues the family will not be receiving visitors at their home at this time.

In lieu of flowers,  memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky River Friends Meeting Cemetery Fund, 8217 Silk Hope-Liberty Road,  Siler City, NC  27344-4467.
