Rachel Bowen Cain

Rachel Bowen Cain, 86, of Beckley, WV passed away at Bowers Hospice, Beckley, WV on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 12:10 a.m.

A native of Beaufort County, NC, she was the wife of the late Guy Avonn Cain and the daughter of Hilton Chester Bowen and Thelma Latham Bowen, both deceased. She retired from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a member of North Beckley Church of Christ in Beckley, WV.

Survivors include a daughter, Patrice C. Bowling and husband Don of Beckley, WV; two sons, Dr. Gary A. Cain and wife Deanna of Wilmington, DE and Rev. Dale S. Cain and wife Kim of Snow Camp; four grandchildren, Christianne Cain Mariano and husband Matt, Roxanne Cain and partner Matt McArdie, Rebekah Joy Cain and Ashleigh Bowling; one great-grandson, Rocco Mariano; and one great-grandchild on the way.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, John Harrell Cain; two sisters, Rhoda Sullivan and Adeline Everett; and two brothers, H. C. Bowen, Jr. and Ray Bowen.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with the family receiving friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
