Rachel Adine Guthrie Angel Thompson Buie Pelone

Rachel Adine Guthrie Angel Thompson Buie Pelone, 90, of Burlington, NC died Saturday, July 11, 2020 and in keeping with her wishes, no service will be held but there will be a luncheon in her honor at a later date for the family and friends, once Covid restrictions are relaxed.

Rachel is the daughter of the late Frank Edward and Minnie Nichols Guthrie.  She was married to the late Howard Buie of 23 years and to the late Fritz Pelone of 5 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and sisters, Audrey Estes and Clara Ray and her Brothers-in-law Lewis Isley and Harold Boswell as well as her nephew Tony Estes.

She is survived by her son Rick Thompson (Chrissy) of Stow, OH, granddaughter Tessa Thompson Massey, and great grandson Chandler Massey of Lincolnton, NC.  Her sisters, Shirley Boswell and Joyce Carter (Quincy) both of Burlington, NC.  Brothers-in-law Jack Estes and Bobby Ray, also many nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and great-nieces.

Rachel lived a long, happy, and energetic life.  She began her career in Burlington at Koury’s Dress Shop and started the ladies department at Coleman's.  She then went on to work for large retail stores as a women’s clothing buyer and then changed her career and became a very successful real estate agent in and around Charlotte, NC.  

She was a very strong, independent and loving woman with quite the sense of humor .  She definitely had her own opinions but she would also give help to anyone that needed it.  She wasn’t always right but she was never wrong.

She was an avid golfer throughout her life and was a very active lady right up until her death.  She loved to play bridge and travel. Throughout her entire life she enjoyed entertaining and having fun.  Whether she was at the beach or Lake Norman, she always invited family and friends to stay at her home.  The amount of friends she had throughout her life was extraordinary and if she ever needed them they were always there for her as she was for them.

Her granddaughter Tessa is her pride and joy right along with her great-grandson Chandler.  She looked forward to their visits and hated when they left.

She was a member of First Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childern's Research Hospital.  This organization was dear to Rachel for the care they provided for Tessa at a young age.
