Virginia Walker Rimer

Virginia Walker Rimer, 85, passed away on June 20, 2022 after several years of declining health. She was surrounded by the family she loved.

A native of Orange County, NC, she was the wife for 61 years to Ben H. Rimer who survives and the daughter of Lacy “Doc” Walker and Minnie Riley Walker, both deceased. Virginia was preceded in death by a brother, Lacy Howard Walker; sisters, Myrtle Vaughn and Christine Allison; and great grandchild, Angel Young. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Diane Young (Roger) and son, Alan Curt Rimer (Donna), all of Mebane; a sister, Elaine Walker; grandchildren, Steve Young (Amanda), Michael Rimer, and Heather Hammond (John); and great grandchildren, Emily and Wyatt Young, and Aly and Jackson Hammond.

Virginia graduated from Aycock High School, Cedar Grove, NC. In her early years she was employed with Alamance County Hospital and later took employment with Duke Medical Center where she retired as a Patient Relations Rep. in 1989. Virginia enjoyed watching birds, working in her flower gardens, and traveling to Sunset Beach. When able, she read her Bible daily and was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church.

The family would like to thank the friends and neighbors that stopped by and brought food, supplies, prayers and most of all, the gift of their time which Virginia cherished the most.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Mt. Zion Christian Church, 3210 Mt. Zion Church Road, Mebane, NC 27302 with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Christian Church Building Fund or to a charity of your choice.
