Mrs Peggy Wright

Peggy Mayree (Marie) Shelton Wright, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 18, 2019 after a brief illness. There, she joined her beloved late husband Richard (Dick) Wright, her father and mother, Raleigh and Delsie Shelton, her two brothers Bobby and Cecil (Wimpy) Shelton, and 2 sisters Deborah Cole and Ramona Shelton.

Peggy was born in Chatham VA on April 13, 1940, and graduated from Parkview High School in South Hill VA. In 1959 Peggy moved with her family to Mebane, NC. Peggy had an unprecedented work ethic, which showed in her 27 years of service with General Electric. As a retiree she kept the communication lines open with fellow retirees and enthusiastically participated in the GE Retirement Club where she served as Treasurer, and coordinated many events over the years, which she enjoyed doing. Peggy was active with the Go-Getter’s Club and where they went, so did she. Peggy compassionately gave over 1000 hours of service with Alamance Regional Cancer Center in Mebane, and loved doing for others every day. Peggy was a loyal member of New Covenant Fellowship Church in Graham, and participated in many events such as Mission Minded Women, having bible study fellowship in her home, and cooking on Wednesday’s at the church. Peggy loved her family, loved her friends, and she was an avid reader. Peggy loved her church, and her flowers. She was a true example of what Christ meant for us to serve one another. She had a kind spirit, and was the most selfless individual you would ever meet. Peggy loved life, loved to laugh, and laugh often…she did. Life is not made up of a beginning and ending date, but of the “dash” between the two. Peggy had an amazing, eventful and joy filled “dash.”

The legacy she leaves behind for family and friends will inspire all to be more kind, generous, and loving to one another. Peggy is survived by her two children Chris Crowder (Georgeanna) of Mebane, and Ellen Garrett of Greensboro, three sisters Linda Webb (David) of Mebane, Patsye Forbes of Graham, and Sara Pugh of Graham, 2 brothers Larry Shelton of Rock Hill SC, and Freddie Shelton of Mebane, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she all loved.

We will celebrate her life on Friday, March 22 at 11:00 am at New Covenant Fellowship Church in Graham, you are encouraged to attend.

In Lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell.

The family would like to thank the staff at Alamance Regional Medical Center and Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for their kindness, care, and compassion during Peggy’s brief illness.
