Peggy Stroud Swainey Combs

Peggy Stroud Swainey Combs went to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at 1:06 in the afternoon surrounded by her family; including all four of her sons. Peggy fought a courageous 3 and ½ year battle with ovarian cancer and looked forward to being reunited with her loved ones that had passed before her.

Although Peggy was born in Hillsborough she was a longtime resident of Graham and had recently relocated to Kannapolis. She was the wife of the late Donnie Combs and the daughter of Noah Robert Swainey and Mary Rich Swainey, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Christine Osborne.

Peggy retired from General Electric in Mebane and the Graham Police Department. She was a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church in Burlington.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Combs (Carolyn) of Burlington, Byron Combs (Jan) of Lawsonville, Donald Combs (Kimberly) of Concord and Corey Combs (Sabrina) of Kannapolis; 10 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brothers, Carl Swainey (Hilda) of Tega Cay, SC and Walter Swainey (Jean) of Hillsborough; and sister, Ann Williams of Durham.

Mrs. Combs will be available for viewing on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Peoples Memorial Christian Church followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The family asks that those attending wear masks and practice social distancing. The family will have a private graveside service following the funeral.
