Paul D. Fine
Paul D. Fine, 72, of Graham, passed away on Thursday 1/21/2021 at Duke Medical Center in Durham.
A native of Hendersonville, NC, Paul was the husband of Christine Fine, who survives, and the son of Earl Fine and Mary Montieth Fine, both deceased.
After attending the University of South Carolina for two years, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as Sergeant in the 75th Infantry, 1ST Ranger Battalion from 1967 – 1970. He was a two-time Purple Heart recipient.
In his spare time, Paul enjoyed woodworking and flying RC aircraft. An avid musician and lover of music, he played with the Swinging Medallions in 1967 and was a keyboardist and vocalist with the band, Flashback from 1971 – 1979. Playing in many bands during his lifetime, he also played with The Classics.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Graham. He served in law enforcement for 39 years. He retired as Captain with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Department.
In addition to his wife, Christine, he is survived by his son, Scott Fine and his wife, Cody, of Little River, SC; a brother David Fine, of Hendersonville.
A graveside service to honor Paul’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday 1/29/2021 at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church. Rev. Jimmy Wooten will officiate.
