Patricia Ann Stewart

Patricia Ann Bricher Stewart, 90, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 at Brookdale Carriage Club, Charlotte, NC.

She was born Patricia Ann Bricher to Otto Bricher and Anna Hartnagle Bricher on August 4th, 1932. Pat had two brothers, Orville and John Bricher. Later, Otto and Anna brought Martha into the fold when Martha’s parents passed away. They are all now deceased. Pat met John Stewart on a blind date, although he was late and almost missed his bride to be. They were married on August 25, 1956 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before John passed away in October 2006.

Survivors include her children, Allen Stewart (wife Penny), Elisabeth (Betty) Warrick and Linda Walters (husband Steve); grandchildren, Marcus, Nicholas, Laura, and Daniel; and great-grandchildren, Emily, John (JJ), Grant, Cole, and Paige.

Pat grew up on the family farm in Indiana where the family raised livestock and harvested grain. That’s where she developed her love of corn, especially corn on the cob and popcorn.

Pat was a devout Catholic. She attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Burlington, NC serving as a Eucharistic Minister, singing in the choir, and participating in her Circle.

Pat enjoyed an active life. She liked bowling, canasta, square dancing and camping with the family. She volunteered at Hearts and Hands, Meals on Wheels, and Allied Churches.

Pat was a great cook always trying a new recipe. Many of those meals were cooked on a two burner Coleman stove while camping, sometimes in the rain. She clipped recipes from Good Housekeeping and newspapers but the most cherished are her handwritten recipes, several of which are now memorialized in the Stewart Family cookbook.

Pat lived alone for several years before moving to an independent living retirement community. After her dementia progressed, she moved to memory care and spent her last days under Hospice Care in skilled nursing.

A Celebration of her life will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10:00 am. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 am until 10:00 am prior to the funeral. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
