Obituary

“Scottie” Ora Lee Scott Brady, 91, of Elmcroft Assisted Living At Town Center passed away 11/10/20 after a brief illness with cancer. Born July 15, 1929, in Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Samuel Floyd and Frances Somers Scott. Mrs. Brady was a 1947 graduate of Salem Academy. She finished “Women's College” UNC-G in 1952, with a degree in Home Economics. She was Co-owner and Co-CEO of Parker Sales and Service in Sparta, NC, along with her late husband, John M. Parker, making filters for the baking industry. She excelled in home-craft, cooking lavish Southern fare, sewing, and, with her late husband, Dr. W. W. Walker, Sr., caring for the needs of their five children. Growing up in a rural community at Union Ridge, NC, Ora was a striking beauty who modeled for Matthews Belk and taught Seventeen American magazine beauty workshops. Her beloved childhood friend and husband, The Honorable Edward L. Brady, also pre-deceased her.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her brother and sister-in-law; Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Scott, of Union Ridge; daughter, Karen LaBerdia and husband Jeffrey; sons, Woodrow Walker, Jr. and wife Joyce, James S. Walker and Dr. Robert E. Walker; Samuel F. Walker and wife Tara; step-daughters; Vickie Parker Moyer and husband, Chuck, Mary Brady Miller and husband Ben, and step-son; Rev. Carl Brady. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Kenton LaBerdia, Scott Walker, and Marissa Walker, along with a number of step-grandchildren.

Notice: There will be a graveside service at Union Ridge Church in Burlington, North Carolina. Plans for a Celebrate the Life of Ora Lee Scott Brady will be held for family and friends in the spring or summer of 2021.
