Ms. Onia Denham Loy, 94, of Burlington passed away at her residence on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.
A native of Durham County, she spent most of her life in Burlington. She was the wife of Cornelius Odell Loy, deceased and the daughter of Ernest A. Denham and Rosa Byrd Denham, both deceased.
Ms. Loy was retired from Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technologies with 35 years of service. She was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church having been active in her early years. She was an active member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She also belonged to the Pioneers of Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technologies as well as the Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors includes a sister, Ollie Denham Hill of Supply, NC; two granddaughters, Tonya Scott Hamlett of Burlington and Sandi Scott Thompson of Snow Camp; and four great-grandsons, London Hamlett, Nicholas Thompson, Scotty Thompson and Grant Thompson.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Odell Van Loy; a sister, Sylvia Denham Abbey; and a brother, Ernest A. Denham
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Rev. Bobby Fann will be officiating. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Other times, the family will be at the residence.
