Naomi Pearl Flynn Shepherd, 91, of Gibsonville passed away at the Hospice Home on Monday, December 3, 2018 following five years of declining health.
A native of Wentworth, North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Joe and Priscilla Flynn. Naomi lost her parents at a young age and her aunt and uncle John Franklin and Bertha Boone Flynn raised her in Gibsonville. She was the wife of Kenneth T. Shepherd and they were married for more than 70 years. She was retired from Bennett Hosiery.
Naomi was an active member with Gibsonville Christian Church for 70 years where she served as a Deacon, a Trustee, and was a loving Sunday School teacher.
In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include a daughter, Julia S. Sowinski (Matthew) of Gibsonville; one grandson, Patrick Neil Sowinski of St. Louis, MO; two sisters-in-law, Glenda Faye Belvin (Herbert) of Stoney Creek, and Imogene Loman (the late Raymond) of Huntersville, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Luther and Billy Flynn and one sister, Mary F. Bunton Hall.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 12:45 – 1:45 prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington, NC.
